Second Annual Barbecue Cook-off at Texas Culinary Academy

What: Second Annual Barbecue Cook-off

Texas Culinary Academy is pleased to host the Second Annual TCA Barbecue Cook-off. TCA, along with the Texas Beef Council, Martin Preferred Foods, East Poultry and the Central Texas Barbecue Association, are major sponsors of this event that will feature more than 40 teams competing for the best in barbeque in the categories of beef brisket, pork ribs and whole chicken. The competition will showcase the work of up to 30 student teams, as well as the community—with up to 22 slots open to the public. The panel of judges will include representatives from Austin’s famed County Line Restaurant. Chicken will be judged from 10am-1pm, pork ribs from 11am-2pm, and beef from noon-3pm. Teams will start cooking as early as Friday night to showcase their skills on Saturday.

The suggested donation for all-you-can-eat plates and non-alcoholic drinks is $10. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy live music, delicious food and a free BBQ sauce demo at 1:30pm.
