Experience the World of Chocolate with Scrumptious Samples and Demonstrations Throughout the Day

What: Second Annual Chocolate Show & Competition
Austin, Texas, January 10, 2007 – Texas Culinary Academy (TCA) announced today that it will host its Second Annual Chocolate Show & Competition, Saturday, February 10th from 12:00 until 3:00 p.m.
The event, hosted by Texas Culinary Academy and sponsored by Paris Gourmet, distributor of Cacao Noel fine chocolate, will showcase TCA student competition entries in several categories including chocolate showpiece, chocolate truffles, molded chocolate candies, candy bars, chocolate cake and chocolate mousse. Students will be offering samples of their work as well!
Expert chef demonstrations will feature chocolate in sweet and savory dishes with samples. Ventana, Texas Culinary Academy’s student-run restaurant, will offer a wine tasting and presentation by wine instructor Jane Nickles. Wines will be paired with sweet and savory chocolate items.
"You can learn everything you need to know about chocolate—from tree to truffle--at this, including the history of chocolate and how it is produced," said Chef Aimee Olson, organizer of the annual show and Chair of TCA’s Pastry Department.
Demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the day. The TCA student pastry club will also sell hot chocolate and other chocolate items.
This event is open to the public and most demonstrations are free of charge. Cost for the wine tasting is $15 per person, and participants must show photo identification with proof of age for the consumption of alcohol.
